Cracked masthead emphasises the design of the magazine, as this connotes an onomatopoeic element, of which is a noise that tends to comes from a guitar.

Design element of a stamp which puts emphasis on the magazine content inside.

The use of a skull adds to the design and also style of a rock magazine.

The word 'WIN' has been made into a bold and uppercase sans-serif font, in an electric yellow to draw readers into the competition.

The star adds to the idea of this being a rock magazine, due to the stars design that looks like it has been drawn with pen.

The typeface is presented on a banner that has a sort out rubbed out design.

Coverline is presented on a banner. With a colour scheme of black and white, which are complimentary colours.

The free merchandise has been mounted onto a bright yellow background, to draw readers into it. The sans-serif font has been put into uppercase font to signify that the magazine is definitely getting your moneys worth. Also, the significant parts of the phrase have been emphasised further by being luminous purple.

The use of drop caps adds a sense of formality to the DPS.

The content of the DPS has been presented in plain white blocks making the typeface readable and recognisable.

The bands name has been presented in a different typeface to make is significant in comparison to the overall font.

The content in this box has been highlighted through the use of design elements. Firstly, the box the typeface is in has been given a smudge/blur effect. Lastly, the headline has been made into a serif font to show the formality and also importance.

This text is known as the pull quote because its large font in quotation marks which means one of the band members said it. This draws readers into it, and also makes the magazine more sentimental to fans.

This is the logo of the overall magazine, which adds to the brands identity.

The masthead for the contents page has been presented in a serif front with an design element of blocks.

The splodges of paint add to the design element of the contents page as they add a sense of fun, excitement and could imply their content is a form of expression.

The main images on the contents page have been presented in the form of a collage.This gives the readers an insight of the variety of genres featured.

The contents page headlines are presented in the form of banners.

The page numbers are categorised by colour, which adds to the brands identity, due to the colours complimenting the logo.

The main image has been taken at a 3/4 shot, and has been made black and white to fit in with the contents pages theme.

The main content has been put in the middle section of the page. The headlines have been portrayed with a serif font and the content underneath with sans-serif typeface.

This typeface has been designed to draw the reader into the magazine, as it states 'No.1 on the charts'.

The use of the juxtaposing colours makes the typeface on the banners very bold.

The main headline is given priority and is presented in the form of a banner as it goes across the page. It is presented in bright pink and is a sans-serif typeface.

The use of this short and snappy strapline gives a quick insight as to what the magazine is about.

The bright pink luminous box allows the logo stand out. This adds to the brand identity of the magazine.

The overall brand identity of the magazine is shown through the use of a logo. It's quite graphical as the word 'love' is substituted with a heart.

Certain stories within the magazine are outlined to make them seem more important.

The use of banners again accompany the sub-images. perhaps to emphasise the topic within the magazine.

Free merchandise is emphasised with the use of a significant typeface and also sub-images.

The use of a border around the huge red banner adds to the formality of the magazine.

The collage of images contributes to the overall house style of Q as they tend to do this in every magazine. The images in the collage contain images related to the magazine features.

The use of huge numbers makes the content more visible and appealing. Bigger numbers could connote juicier or even more content in an article.

Serif text is maintained throughtout to perpetuate the magazine house style.

Graphic images add to the creativity of the magazine as well as perhaps promoting a musical element.

Headings have been short and snapping again highlight the house style.

The use of the logo on the contents page reiterate s the brand identity.

There is a caption to give insight as to what is going on in the magazine.

Drop caps in a bright red box to emphasise the house style.

The DPS has been given a heading to highlight what it is about.

The text has been made made red so its significant and striking while still maintaining the house style.

The use of the guitar, stamps musicality onto the magazine.

The page number makes it easy to navigate and the logo helps promote brand identity  of the magazine.

The pull quote has had a decorative box around it also with a mini banner to make it visible and stand out.

The typeface of the magazine is simplistic. It has been placed in a white box.
